E-mail Print PDF

The LinksManager Bridge is designed to connect your Joomla! web site to your LinksManager account.

[[ REQUIRED ]]   A LinksManager Account - 30 day free trial:   Sign Up Here!

Step #1 :: Get a LinksManager Account ::

LinksManagerLinksManager is the only patented editor-based total link management system. This is not your mother's WebLinks that comes pre-installed with Joomla! If you can use Joomla! you can use LinksManager. The actual management of all your links will still be done from within your LinksManager account Control Panel. The LinksManager Bridge component simply works in conjunction with your LinksManager account to display your links pages inside your Joomla! web site template.

Only a few settings are required to connect the two systems together.

Step #2 :: Setup LinksManager Account ::

LinksManager SetupIf you do not already have a list of categories in use it is helpful to add 4-10 relevant categories to your account to start. After you have registered your LinksManager account please contact the LinksManager Support HelpDesk and let them know you are a Joomla! 1.5 user and would like help setting up your account to facilitate that integration. We will be happy to help you setup your LinksManager account to work with your Joomla! site. If you want to setup your account without staff assistance please follow the LinksManager Setup Instructions - Click Here

Step #3 :: Install the "LinksManager Bridge" Component ::

Install - UninstallOnce the LinksManager account is ready you can begin installation and configuration of the LinksManager Bridge component in your Joomla! administration panel. If you are uncomfortable with installing components to your Joomla! backend let the LinksManager support staff know and we can walk you through it. If you are familiar with installing Joomla! extensions without staff assistance please follow the

Joomla! Component Installation - Click Here

Step #4 :: Setup "LinksManager Bridge" Configurations ::

After the LinksManager Bridge component is installed you will want to update the configurations in order to start using the component.  Under the 'Components' menu of your Joomla! administration panel you will now find a menu item called 'LinksManager Bridge'. Click that link to open the configuration page. There you will want to click the 'LinksManager Id' link to add your official LinksManager ID. The default XML filename will work, if you prefer a different name you can change it but will need to let the LinksManager support staff know it needs updating on their end as well.

Here is a configuration summary for the LinksManager Bridge:

  • LinksManager ID: Automatically pulls information hourly.
  • XML Filename: Provided by LinksManager
  • Customize Links Pages Heading
  • Links Pages Top Text - for introduction text.
  • Links Pages Bottom Text - for footer text.
  • Top & Bottom Navigation Breadcrumbs

Configuration
Step #5 :: Integrate Component into your Web Site ::

IntegrationOnce you have updated the configurations for the LinksManager Bridge you will be ready to integrate it into your web site. The best way to do this is with the Menu Manager of Joomla!. Choose the Menu that you want to add a navigation button to. Then you can choose to link that button to the new LinksManager Bridge component. You will want to give a relevant title to your new button - Please do not use just 'Links'.

Once this is done you should be able to click the button on your home page and see the LinksManager Bridge in action. If you have any difficulties or need further assistance see Step #6.

Step #6 :: Support is a HelpDesk Ticket Away ::

HelpDeskIf you run into any problems let us know! Full support for this component is available to all registered LinksManager users. If you need support for the LinksManager Bridge component please login to the LinksManager HelpDesk and submit a support ticket under your LinksManager ID. Click Here for HelpDesk Login You can also access this area by logging into your LinksManager account and scrolling the left navigation all the way to the bottom to the 'Support Options' section.
